"Free credit" is one of the most searched casino terms in Malaysia — and one of the most misunderstood. Some offers are genuinely useful for trying a new platform. Others come with rules so strict that almost nobody ever withdraws a single ringgit. This guide explains how free credit actually works, what to check before you claim it, and how to spot the offers that are not worth your time.
18+ only. Free credit is a promotion, not income. Only play with money you can afford to lose.
What is free credit?
Free credit is a small amount of playable balance that an online casino gives you without requiring you to deposit first — usually somewhere between RM3 and RM30. It is the casino's way of letting you test their games, app and customer service before you commit real money.
Free credit is not the same as:
- A deposit bonus – extra credit given after you deposit (e.g. "100% welcome bonus").
- A rebate – a percentage of your turnover or losses returned to you later.
- A free spin – a fixed number of spins on one specific slot game.
How free credit works, step by step
- Register an account (usually with a phone number, sometimes a bank account in your name).
- Verify — many platforms send an SMS code or ask customer service to activate the credit.
- Claim the credit from the promotion page or through live chat.
- Play the eligible games (often only slots).
- Meet the turnover requirement before you can withdraw.
- Withdraw — up to the maximum withdrawal limit.
Steps 5 and 6 are where most people get caught out, so let's look at them closely.
Turnover (wagering) requirement explained
Turnover is the total amount you must bet before free credit winnings become withdrawable. It is usually written as a multiple, like "x20" or "x30".
Example: You claim RM10 free credit with x30 turnover.
RM10 × 30 = RM300 in total bets needed.
That does not mean you need to lose RM300 — it means the sum of all your bets must reach RM300. If you bet RM1 per spin, that is 300 spins.
Things to check:
- Is turnover counted on the credit, or on credit + winnings? The second is much harder.
- Which games count? Live casino and some table games often count 0% or 10%.
- Is there a time limit? Some free credit expires in 24–72 hours.
Maximum withdrawal (the "max cash-out")
Almost every free credit offer has a cap on how much you can withdraw — for example, "max withdraw RM50" or "RM100". Even if you turn RM10 into RM800, you can only withdraw the cap; the rest is removed.
A low cap is normal. What matters is that it is clearly written before you claim, not revealed only when you try to withdraw.
Minimum withdrawal & deposit-to-withdraw rules
Some platforms require you to make a small deposit (e.g. RM30) before your first withdrawal, even from free credit. This is not automatically a scam — it is often used to verify your bank account — but it should be stated in the terms up front.
7 red flags: when free credit is a trap
- No written terms — only "ask customer service".
- Turnover above x50 for a small credit.
- Max withdrawal hidden or changed after you win.
- They ask for your banking password or TAC code. No legitimate platform ever needs this.
- APK download from a random link with no official source.
- Pressure to deposit immediately "or the free credit will be cancelled".
- No working live chat, or support disappears once you ask about withdrawal.
If you see two or more of these, walk away.
How to get the most out of free credit
- Read the promotion terms first — turnover, max withdraw, eligible games, expiry.
- Use low bet sizes to reach turnover with more spins.
- Pick medium-volatility slots — they balance hit frequency and win size. (See our guide to RTP & volatility.)
- Treat it as a test drive — check how fast withdrawals are and how support responds. That tells you more about a platform than the free credit itself.

FAQ
Is free credit really free?
You don't pay to receive it, but you must meet turnover before withdrawing, and withdrawals are capped. Think of it as a trial, not free money.
Can I withdraw free credit directly?
No. Only winnings can be withdrawn, and only after the turnover requirement is met, up to the max withdrawal limit.
Why do some platforms ask me to deposit before withdrawing free credit winnings?
Usually to verify that the bank account belongs to you. It should be written in the terms before you claim.
What is the best game to use free credit on?
Whatever the terms allow — usually slots. Medium-volatility slots with an RTP of around 96% or higher are a sensible choice.
Can I claim free credit more than once?
Normally one per person, phone number, bank account and device. Creating multiple accounts usually voids all winnings.
18+. Gambling involves risk. Set a budget, take breaks, and never chase losses. If gambling stops being fun, stop.
